About

Julia Gwen Poncavage is a contemporary realism artist from northeastern Pennsylvania, primarily working in oil paint and charcoal. She is a graduate of Sue Hand's Imagery based in Dallas, PA, where she studied for six years and now teaches seasonally. The discipline she acquired studying under her mentors including at ÀNI Art Academy resulted in many accolades including multiple publications in Strokes of Genius: The Best of Drawing magazine. A finalist in the Art Renewal Center (ARC) annual salon, Julia's work has also been accepted into many juried exhibitions and galleries including Lovett’s Gallery in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kings college Widmann Gallery, and Mainstreet Galleries in Kingston, PA. Julia secured a strong foundation and identity to further her education with and received the James J. And Frances M. Maguire Artistic Excellence full tuition scholarship from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where she currently attends.
